Regulatory Changes

EL-002 Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances and Small Power Transformers and Power Supplies – Meeting Decisions:

  • Committee agreed to re-allow type Z attachment for partition fans (60335.2.80).
  • Ceiling mounted heat lamp appliances (defined in clause 3.106) are not considered to be ceiling recessed radiant heaters (60335.2.30).
  • Refrigerating appliance (fridge and/or freezer) underside encasing will also be required to meet same requirements as rear and side enclosures (AS/NZS 60335.2.24 draft cl 22.117). Current publication (AS/NZS 60335.2.24:2010+A1+A2 clause AZ 22.101) exempts “the underside of the appliance”.
  • Accepted use of UL969 with use xenon-arc method A with ISO4892-2 as alternative method for rating label UV resistance assessment (60335.2.41).
